Taking your first step towards therapy for yourself is courageous, shows a desire for self-compassion and a desire to make a positive change within who you are!
Being courageous is overcoming any fears that act as barriers towards feeling safe, confident in who you are and becoming your true authentic self. Imagine what being courageous looks like to you. Does it make you feel safe? Is your whole self, filled with confidence? Is invincibility to achieve greatness seen in your imagination of courage? Have Courage!
Having a desire for self-compassion is simply loving yourself, doing everything you can to bring love to yourself and to know that your very existence in this world is value added! What would it be like if you one day find yourself feeling an immense amount of love for yourself? If your answer to this question, makes you feel good and happy inside, then begin your journey towards that day of finding yourself feeling an immense love for yourself now!
What is it like when you feel an absolute positive change within yourself? Do you find yourself feeling an overwhelming sense of peace, a wonderful calm and motivated to achieve new goals for yourself? Imagine it! Make positive change within who you are a reality for yourself now!
My approach to therapy is very strength based, using different therapeutic approaches to help support you along your journey of feeling courageous, having self-compassion for yourself and making a positive change within yourself! I enjoy implementing cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy, mindfulness and tribal best practices in my practice!
I am Navajo Indian and have an ability to work with diverse populations. I am fluent in Spanish and have worked many years with the Latino community within the Portland metro area. I have experience working with my Native Brothers and Sisters here in Portland, as well. I am open to working with all people and am mindful of our differences and our similarities. I also love the rich culture that my clients bring with them in each session. I am a husband and a father and know the struggles that we may face as men. I have discovered that in working with husbands, fathers and young men, we have emotions, we have feelings and sometimes our voices are not heard in a society that tells us that we have to be tough and that we cannot show our emotions, our feelings or speak what we are thinking. Any husbands, fathers or young men searching for a person to simply hear your voice and validate your thoughts, emotions and empower you…reach out to me!
