Do you wonder what your emotions are trying to tell you? Did you experience childhood trauma and find that it shows up in your adult life? Do you struggle with negative body image or turn to food for comfort? Are you in a time of transition and exploring who you are? If so, I may be a good therapist for you.

I embarked on a second career in counseling because I believe in the healing power of therapy. Starting therapy is a brave step and I am honored that you might be considering me as your therapist. My goal is to create a safe space in which you can trust me with the most vulnerable parts of yourself. I approach clients with genuine care, curiosity, and compassion. I aim to provide emotional comfort and safety for all my clients, including those in the LGBTQIA2S+ communities and those with disabilities or living in larger bodies.

Our early life experiences profoundly shape us, in ways that can be both healthy and unhealthy. With clear insight, we can reveal our patterns, expose our pain, and heal our wounds, allowing us more choice in how we think, feel, and act. I am here to listen to your story and help you navigate your next steps. My aim is to help you explore your authentic self, enrich your relationships, and embrace life’s transitions.

My approach is person-centered and strengths-based, and honors you as the expert of your own experiences and goals. I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a mindfulness-based orientation that aims to help you create a more fulfilling life by encouraging you to live in alignment with your values. I also use Attachment Theory to understand what you learned about love, trust, and safety and how these early experiences may be impacting you now. Other modalities I may use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

In addition, my first career as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist taught me to value Health at Every Size® and intuitive eating and sparked my passion for helping individuals struggling with a dysfunctional relationship with food and their bodies. If this is you, I will strive to help you break free from chasing a physical “ideal” and develop a healthy acceptance of your body.

I completed a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at George Fox University. Additionally, I have a Master of Science in Nutrition and Food Management from Oregon State University and Bachelor of Science in Biology from Pacific University. I have been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist since 2008.

My roots are in Oregon. I was raised on the Oregon coast and have lived most of my adult life in Portland. My husband and I have one son in college, two dogs, and big dreams for future travel. I unwind with tennis, dogs, podcasts, freshly baked cookies, strong coffee, and even stronger friendships.
