I embarked on a new career in counseling in midlife because I believe in the healing power of therapy. I believe therapy works because it has worked for me. Starting therapy is a brave step and I am honored that you might be considering me as your therapist. My goal is to create a safe space in which you can trust me with the messiest and most vulnerable parts of yourself. I approach clients the way I approach everyone – with curiosity and compassion.

I believe that our early life experiences profoundly shape us, in ways that can be both healthy and unhealthy. I also believe that with clear insight, we can reveal our patterns, expose our pain, and heal our wounds, allowing us more choice in how we think, feel, and act. Whether it’s anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, stress, or trauma, I am here to listen to your story and help you navigate your next steps. My aim is to help you explore your authentic self, enrich your relationships, and embrace life’s transitions.

My approach is person-centered and honors you as the expert of your own experiences and goals. I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a mindfulness-based orientation that aims to help you create a more fulfilling life by encouraging you to live in alignment with your values. I also use Restoration Therapy, which emphasizes attachment theory and examines intergenerational patterns of love and trustworthiness in families. Restoration Therapy can help you develop skills to name and self-regulate painful emotional experiences and empower you to choose more loving and trustworthy behaviors towards yourself and others.

In addition, my first career as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist taught me to value Health at Every Size® and intuitive eating and sparked my passion for helping individuals struggling with disordered eating. If you are tired of having a dysfunctional relationship with food and/or your body, I will strive to help you break free from dieting and chasing an “ideal” body weight. Let’s ditch diet culture and honor our perfectly imperfect bodies just as they are!

I recently completed a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at George Fox University. My studies included courses in psychopathology, human growth and development, substance use and other addictions, gender and sexuality, clinical integration of spirituality, psychopharmacology, neurobiology of trauma, embodiment and eating disorders, cultural foundations and social justice, group therapy, child-centered play therapy, emotionally-focused therapy, and more. I have earned Level I certification in Restoration Therapy and am currently working toward Level I certification in Gottman couple’s therapy.

Additionally, I have a Master of Science in Nutrition and Food Management from Oregon State University and Bachelor of Science in Biology from Pacific University. I have been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist since 2008.

My roots are in Oregon. I was born and raised on the Oregon coast and have lived most of my adult life in Portland. My husband and I have one son in college, two dogs, and lots of dreams for future travels. I enjoy tennis, dogs, podcasts, freshly baked cookies, strong coffee, and even stronger friendships.
