Halle Smith Marriage & Family Therapist Associate (503) 662-8490 [email protected] Schedule: Contact me for current availability |
Beginning therapy can often feel like a daunting process. It is a courageous choice that requires vulnerability and curiosity. I utilize warmth, storytelling, compassion, curiosity, and a holistic lens to create an authentic therapeutic space. I view therapy as a collaborative process in which my role as a therapist is to create a safe, non-judgemental space for you to show up as your full human self, exactly as you are. I prioritize the therapeutic relationship and see my role as a collaborator helping to co-author the stories of our lives. I support clients in creating more self-compassion and allowing space to navigate and overcome life's challenges, transitions, and stressors.
I am an anti-racist, LGBTQIA+ affirming as well as poly friendly and kink aware therapist. My therapeutic foundation is attachment-based, guided by social justice principles. I utilize a few different therapeutic approaches such as family systems therapies and mindfulness based practices to draw on the already present insight and resilience you possess to move towards growth and healing. All approaches place importance on connecting with you and allowing for you to feel deeply heard and seen in your experience.
I hold a master’s degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy from Lewis & Clark College. I am currently providing therapy services to individuals, couples, adolescents, and families as a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Associate in the state of Oregon. Major coursework included: Equity in Marriage and Family Therapy, Family Development, Couples Therapy, Child and Adolescent Group Counseling, Child and Adolescent Development, Domestic Violence, Sex Therapy, and Family Therapy, with an emphasis on social justice. I additionally hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Family Social Science from The University of Minnesota.
